a short list, because the category is young. the gaps are more informative than the entries.
what MCP actually changes
the model context protocol gives an agent typed access to a tool or data source, rather than making it parse a web page and guess.
the reason this matters for investing specifically: the constraint on agent-run sourcing was never the model's reasoning. it is reach. a general model can read the public web, and the public web is precisely where early-stage signal is not.
worth connecting

fetch and web search (official, free). the baseline. lets the agent read a page you point it at, and search. most useful in combination with something that tells it what to look up.
notion (official). if your deal notes live there, this closes the loop from signal to memo without copy-paste.
google drive (official). decks and data rooms. an agent that can read the deck while holding the signal is materially more useful than one doing either alone.
filesystem (official). underrated for diligence. point it at a folder of exports and let it reconcile them.
slack and linear (official). where the pipeline conversation and the tasks already are, so the agent can file rather than report.
github (official). only if you do technical diligence, in which case it is the strongest one on this list.
the honest gaps
more of a VC stack has no MCP server than has one:
- CRMs: affinity and attio, the two most used, have no official server
- databases: pitchbook, crunchbase and harmonic, no official servers
- cap tables: carta, nothing
- LP reporting: nothing
so a realistic 2026 agent stack is two or three real servers plus a lot of API glue. anyone selling you a fully agentic fund today is selling you glue.
how to choose
three questions:
is it official or community? community servers vary wildly and break silently when an upstream API changes.
does it return typed data or scraped text? a server that hands back html has moved the parsing problem, not solved it.
can the agent check its own work? the useful property of typed tools is that you can ask "which call produced that number" and get an answer. anything that cannot answer that will eventually invent a figure.
