tl;dr: Freehand raised $75M led by Battery Ventures and NewRoad Capital Partners. Polar Browser raised $5.7M. Pangram raised a seed led by Menlo Ventures. all three announced july 29 2026. frontrun flagged them 27 hours, 160 days, and 144 days before the news.
who led Freehand's $75M round?
Freehand raised $75M, led by Battery Ventures and NewRoad Capital Partners.
Freehand builds AI agents for accounts payable: agents that decide whether to pay, dispute, or negotiate an invoice. per the announcement, they already run AP workflows for Meta, Unilever, and Johnson & Johnson. founder: Nitin Jayakrishnan.
who raised for Polar Browser?
Polar Browser raised $5.7M for an AI browser that does the work itself: automating research, sales, recruiting and ops from a typed instruction. the team claims 4,500,000+ actions taken for users and benchmark wins over the big-lab web agents, with people from MIT, YC, Citadel, Jane Street, Perplexity, Modal, and Apple.
who led Pangram's seed?
Pangram raised a seed led by Menlo Ventures, announced alongside Pangram 4, its latest text detection model, and a research preview of an AI image detector. founders Max Spero and Bradley Emi are building detection for what Menlo's memo calls "AI slop on the internet."
how early did frontrun flag them?
Freehand: flagged july 28, announced july 29. 27 hours.
Polar Browser: flagged february 19, announced july 29. 160 days.
when we flagged Polar Browser it was called @composer_ai. the account renamed months later. we track accounts by id, not by handle, so the receipt survived the rebrand: same account, same follow event, 160 days before the round.
Pangram: flagged march 7, announced july 29. 144 days.
13 tracked investors followed Pangram between the flag and the round. the accumulation was visible for four and a half months before Menlo's announcement.
27 hours to 160 days: what a lead time is worth
the three leads on one day's news span from a single day to five months. they are different products of the same signal.
the 160-day flag is the research lead: time to diligence, meet the founder, build conviction before anyone is looking. the 27-hour flag is the tell: tracked investors moving on an account the day before the announcement, when the round is done but the news isn't out. both come from the same place, investors following companies before they talk about them.
why Freehand won't be in the receipt ledger
our receipt ledger has a 7-day minimum lead: a flag has to beat the round by at least a week to count as a discovery rather than a leak of imminent news. 27 hours doesn't clear that bar, so Freehand's round is in this post but not in the ledger.
Polar Browser and Pangram both clear it with months to spare. the ledger rule costs us receipts like Freehand's, and we keep it anyway: a bar you bend once is not a bar.
see the list before the round
these three already raised. the useful list is the one where the round hasn't happened yet.
frontrun watches the follow graphs of 1,000+ tracked venture investors on X and flags the companies they converge on, with a date, the morning it happens.
